‘Israel has dropped 40,000 tonnes of bombs on Gaza’
The head of the government media office in Gaza has spoken to Al Jazeera about the situation in the enclave.
Here are some of his translated comments:
- The Israeli army dropped some 40,000 tonnes of bombs in Gaza since October 7.
- A third of the population in Gaza has not received basic necessities.
- The destruction caused by the Israeli army reflects its desire to make Gaza uninhabitable.
- We need to establish a large field hospital as al-Shifa Hospital – the largest in Gaza – is no longer functional.
- The number of children killed in Gaza exceeds the number in all conflicts in the world last year.
